AC Shadows Introduces Unexpected AoT Event for Thanksgiving
In a unexpected crossover event that breaks usual expectations, Ubisoft has announced an in-game crossover between Assassin's Creed Shadows and the popular anime series Attack on Titan. The surprising Thanksgiving event runs from November 25 through December 22, including complimentary bonus story content for Shadows players.
Peculiar Adventure Uncovered
According to the official release, "A mysterious meeting pulls heroes Naoe and Yasuke into a fresh mission, where hints of prohibited rituals and terrifying metamorphoses reverberate through the shadows." The plot presents a "unusually attired woman named Ada" who charges the characters with journeying into the Crystal Cave—a key location from Attack on Titan—to rescue her ally from a hidden group.
The mission focuses on "strange experiments and a fearsome enemy" and is accessible to all players who have gained access to the Yasuke character.
Iconic Locations and Transformations
The trailer showcases the Hidden Temple from Attack on Titan redesigned as the Crystal Cave. This significant location was previously where the Reiss royal family handed down the Founding Titan ability through ages. The trailer finishes with a powerful moment showing a character, presumably the prisoner, morphing into a Titan that towers over Naoe and Yasuke.
Unique Prizes and Extra Content
Players who finish the mission will receive an unique katana together with multiple items hidden throughout the area in hidden chests. The update also contains in-store Attack on Titan item packs, featuring:
- Titan-themed attire for Yasuke
- Mikasa outfit for Naoe
- Unique weapons
- Survey Corps steed
Third Free Story Content
This update also brings the game's newest no-cost story content, titled "The Enigma." This humorous quest partners Naoe and Yasuke as they swap distinctive skills: Naoe introduces a dramatic version of Yasuke's war kick, while Yasuke masters subduing stealth takedowns. True to its name, "The Mystery" also contains a new environmental puzzle that may finally explain some lingering questions from the main storyline.
Previous Japanese Animation Collaborations
This represents hardly the initial time the Assassin's Creed franchise has crossed over with famous anime franchises. The series earlier featured a 2020 crossover story linking Assassin's Creed: Valhalla with Makoto Yukimura's Vinland Saga. Furthermore, Valhalla informally included a quest that obviously echoed the popular series One-Punch Man.
