Kansas City Chiefs Confirm Domestic Violence Allegations Involving Player Rashee Rice
The NFL franchise released a comment on Wednesday evening indicating they are aware of claims of abuse circulated in online accounts by a former girlfriend of player the athlete and had been in communication with the NFL.
The organization omitted the name of the player by name in their statement and noted they would have “nothing more to add at this time”.
Claims Shared on Social Media
Dacoda Nichole Jones, who likewise did not name the athlete by name, posted a set of images on social media that appeared to show indicators of bodily harm. Jones did say the individual in question was the father of her children, and it is known she has kids with the football player, whom the team drafted in the 2023 draft.
Official Complaints Reportedly Not on File
No police reports were on file in the Kansas City suburb where the alleged abuse is said to have taken place.
Rice's Prior Off-Field Troubles
Rice was absent for the first six games of this NFL campaign due to an NFL suspension for his involvement in causing a multi-vehicle accident on a Texas roadway that resulted in multiple people injured. He was given 30 days in jail and probationary supervision after entering a guilty plea to serious offenses.
On the field, he concluded the season with 53 receptions for 571 receiving yards and five TDs as the Kansas City finished with a losing record and failed to qualify for the postseason for the first occasion in a decade.
