The Opening Xbox Game Pass Additions of 2026 Show Xbox Isn't Giving Up Yet.

Everywhere you go, enthusiasts continue to ring the funeral bells for Microsoft's gaming division. Microsoft's console just got outsold by a relatively obscure console. Platform-specific outlets began covering regarding Sony's platform for the first time. The past year represented a period of total upheaval for Xbox and Microsoft. Yet, based exclusively on the upcoming Game Pass lineup in 2026, it's evident that Xbox continues to plan to attract subscribers with strong games on its key platform.

The Immediate Additions

The duo of games you can play right now today, Brews & Bastards and Little Nightmares Enhanced Edition, aren't the showstoppers. The true anticipation is for the upcoming titles to Game Pass soon that's worth getting excited about.

Significant Forthcoming Releases

Starting January 13th, the subscription service will add the underrated Star Wars Outlaws, a vast exploration title that refreshes conventional open-world tropes with a space-faring criminal escapade. A further major acquisition is Resident Evil Village and its giant Lady Dimitrescu, which our 2021 review called "the perfect cocktail of frights and fights."

Compelling Indie Titles

However, the more modest titles arriving shortly on the service deserve recognition. Lost In Random: The Eternal Die, the criminally overlooked roguelike that is incredibly fun, drops on Jan. 7th — and you should try it whether or not you experienced the first Lost in Random game.

This UK-developed survival title from last year might get its hooks in you within just a quarter of an hour.

Atomfall, a survival title with stealth elements by Rebellion Developments, also warrants your attention. Ultimate tier members also have Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine – Master Crafted Edition to anticipate.

A Robust Selection of Games

All in all, these aren't the most groundbreaking additions to Game Pass, and they are also not tentpole Microsoft studios games that validate the subscription by themselves. Yet, this selection are rock solid. The lineup provides a solid mix of past releases that passed you by and new-ish games that failed to receive the spotlight they warranted upon launch — which makes them ideal prospects to get a second chance on Game Pass.

Be prepared to part ways with The Grinch Christmas Adventures, though.
